Glastonbury – Worthy FM, Thursday – “Emerging Talent” headline Friday – Acoustic Stage Saturday

by on May 26, 2009

Hope and Social are ecstatic to announce that we’re playing thrice at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

First up is a privileged “Worthy FM” session on Thursday at 2-30PM. If you’re within 25 miles of the festival at that point, or even if you’ve already set up camp and you’re on your eco-friendly wind-up radio, tune into 87.7 FM and hear us try to fashion carbon-neutral, recycled kazoos out of carrots on the air. If you can’t make it to the festival then you can get a flavour of Glasto ’09 online as WorthyFM will be bringing the Festival direct to your desktop as a webcast.

Next up, the Queen’s Head stage – our stage-time is billed as 3-45 PM on Friday, which is the headline slot of the Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent line-up, just a band or so after the lovely “Yr Ods” (who were great when we played for Emily and Micheal Eavis et al at the Pilton Working Men’s Club gig) and just before “Team Waterpolo”, managed by the lovely Phil Chadwick, Elbow’s manager. The Queens Head looks to be a rather great place to play and within staggering distance of the Brothers Bar.

Saturday sees Hope and Social play at one of their favourite stages of the festival, the Acoustic Stage. Billed at 1PM, this is the stage and time we watched the Frames play only a few years ago – and now look, they’ve got oscars and everything. We’re hoping to see friendly faces and new friends galore at the shows. It’s been a lifetime ambition (and for some of us, that’s a very long time) to play at the festival, so to be playing two public shows and the radio slot is a dream come true.

Now then, if you could all please make Glastonbury playlists for Spotify and add us in, that’d be just magic.

We’ll see you at Bruce too if you’re going to the festival. Just to the left of the mixing tent, 45 degrees from the back corner ten yards out. We’ll be the ones with the pear cider and the grins.

Just scanned the glasto line up tonight and there you were twice! wow wow wow And the radio. We’ll be there – ie me the kids and other assorted randoms – so so so excited and you’re on and two great venues. The queen’s head last year was great and it looks like it’ll be bigger and better this year. We usually get to camp near the acoustic so that’s most considerate of you.. Are the blue blazers coming too as my daughter’s tempted to bring hers but being thirteen she wouldn’t want to look too silly now would she – um – well actually considering what she was wearing last year ?? All the new stuff’s sounding great.

Our front rooms a still echoing.. ahh twas loverly Any time you need to test out a song? Some how I have a feeling you maybe playing somewhat larger venues soon.

Hope to get to Leeds too

Off to find my wellies and sun cream

    love to all

    Diana xx

    • Aw Diana, thanks there luv. As for the Jackets… whaddayouthink? If little un can play the kazoo then that’s only going to serve to increase her chance of a solo at the acoustic tent y’know.

As for the living room – enter our competitions and you may win!
